Join us for the 9th Annual Roopville Hornet 5K race on Saturday, September 19, 2020. This certified course offers the fun racing experience of touring the charming town of Roopville with scenic rolling hills and pasture lands near the downtown. Proceeds benefit the PTO of Roopville Elementary School. If you are registering as a student between the ages of 1-17 the price is automatically reduced to $15 and applied during the online check-out for the 5k race.
***We have a Covid-19 plan in place for the safety of participants, volunteers, and spectators. Please know there will be wave group start times to eliminate an environment that would create congregating and large, close contact groups. In addition, we are offering a VIRTUAL EVENT that you can register for also!
Race day parking is available on Roopville Veal Road! This is very convenient to both the start and finish line, please take advantage of this great area to park!
This race is USATF Certified! Making it a Peachtree Road Race qualifier!
Awards will be given to the following male and female age divisions in the 5K race: Awards are based on chip timing.
9 and under, 10-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. As well as awards to top Overall Male and Female Finisher based upon gun time.
Dash to the Finish awards to the top three finishers and ribbons to all who participate.

Race t-shirts are available to all pre-registered 5K runners. Participants that register by 9/1/2020 are guaranteed a race shirt. If registering after the shirt size or shirt may not be available. Register early for an awesome race shirt to support and market Roopville Elementary School!
PANDEMIC DISCLOSURE AND RESPONSE PLANS
There remains on-going developments with Covid-19 and due to the global pandemic of this virus, the Roopville Hornet 5K Race reserves the right to modify and /or cancel the event at any time. Should circumstances arise that create the need to cancel the race, participants will have the option to transfer their entry to the virtual event or defer his/her entry to the following year.
In an effort to offer the safest race-day environment for all participants, spectators and volunteers, the Roopville Horney 5K Race Director and committee ask that you follow all safety regulations and preparedness efforts as noted.
Each participant in the 5K and Dash to the Finish will be assigned a race start time between 7:30am and 7:50am. Your race start time will be emailed to the address provided at time of registration (either online or by paper form). If a different start time is requested it must be sent to the race director email within 24 hours of receiving your start time. Families that register together will be kept together. We are committed to accommodating all participants as best we can as well as maintaining the safety guidelines set in place.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your start time to check-in or pick-up your race packet if not received at packet pick-up on the days prior to the race.
The Start and Finish Lines will be located near the Roopville Post Office. Congregating of crowds will be mitigated by maintaining the flow of all participants into wave start areas with 6 foot social distancing. At the race start shoot, there will be waves of 40 participants in 5 minute increments. For example, Wave A will begin at 7:30. Wave B will begin at 7:35, and so on.
Social distancing will be enforced by volunteers with the race at all times. Please do not congregate at the start line or after crossing the finish line.
We will have Packet Pickup on Friday, 9/18 at Roopville Elementary School with more information published soon.
Our amazing volunteers will offer bottled water at the finish area; however, we encourage all participants to bring their own hydration.
Race Day registration will be offered and will allow those registrants to enter the last wave group for starting the event. We highly encourage registering via online or paper form early.
All race volunteers will be recommended to wear masks.
Participants are encouraged to wear masks before and after running but it is not a requirement.
Awards will be available for pick up on site at Roopville Hornet 5K finish area shortly after the final runner crosses the finish line. Participants that do not receive their award will be mailed in the following week.
